Special Services
Check out the programs and services provided by the Outreach Department of the Pioneer Library System. These items may be acquired through any of the 42 libraries in the Pioneer Library System by simply filling out a request form at the circulation desk.
BiFolkal Kits and Slides - multimedia, multi-sensory program materials for use with groups of older adults or for intergenerational programming.
Books Plus and Reminiscing Collections - over 175 theme box collections for people of all ages. Boxes include books, toys, games, puzzles, audio and video cassettes, puppets, and activity folders.
Bridges to the Community Theme Kits - designed for people with developmental disabilities. Many of these kits have also been used successfully with older adults in nursing homes and adult day-care facilities.
Described Videos - each video carefully describes the visual elements of a movie - the characters, action, costumes, settings, gestures - without it interfering with the movie's dialog or sound effects. People who are blind or have low vision can now enjoy current and popular movies.
Talking Books - Full-length recorded books and records can be delivered directly to your door. Applications for the New York State Talking Book and Braille Library are available at the Castile Library!
